Although the number of colors is limited, Ohuhu’s Nahuku 48 brush-tip acrylic marker set offers a really great experience: from the brush nib and the coverage to the color blending, everything works very well. That is my whole verdict in one line, from the description of my unboxing Short above. Below is what the Short shows, what Ohuhu’s listing says about the set, the two other Ohuhu acrylic marker sets I have unboxed, and where Nahuku sits in my acrylic paint pen guide.
Brush nib, coverage and blending: what works very well
All three of the things that decide how a brush-tip acrylic marker paints work very well in this set:
- The brush nib. Ohuhu describes it as a soft, flexible 1–5 mm tip that goes from broad fills to fine details.
- The coverage. In the Short, the teal of the pond goes down as one flat area, and the greens, purples and whites of the bank sit on top of it.
- The color blending. Shades of green layer into each other along the banks and in the grass.
Limited colors: 42 shades plus black and white
My one wish for this set is more colors: the number of colors is limited, and I hope Ohuhu will update this set with more in the future. According to Ohuhu’s Amazon listing, the 48 markers are 42 colors plus 3 black and 3 white, so the range of shades is smaller than the pen count suggests.
If you want the most ready-made shades in one box, compare the 60- and 72-color sets in How it compares below.
What my unboxing Short shows
In the Short above, the set comes in a black sleeve printed with tropical leaves and the Nahuku name, over a black
zip pouch marked 48 (0:03–0:05). Inside (0:06–0:11), white-barrel markers with color-coded caps sit in rows.
I fill in the color chart card that comes with the set before painting (0:12), then sketch a pond in pencil in my
sketchbook (0:16).
The painting goes from big areas to small details: the teal water first (0:20), then layered greens for the banks and
the grass (0:24–0:37), then purple, pink and white flowers (0:38–0:46), and finally ripples on the water
(0:47). Each marker’s color code appears on screen as I pick it up.
Tip, ink and surfaces (maker specs)
According to Ohuhu’s Amazon listing:
- Tipone soft, flexible brush tip for 1–5 mm lines. Give the marker a gentle shake to spread the ink evenly.
- Inkrich pigments with high opacity, smooth flow, and a visible ink window to check how much is left.
- Dryingfast-drying, and water- and fade-resistant once dry.
- Surfacespaper, rock, wood, ceramic, glass, plastic, eggs and canvas.
- Casea fabric pouch for storage and carrying.
I painted with mine on sketchbook paper. For other surfaces and for sealing, see the surface section and the sealing notes in my paint pen guide. Ohuhu also makes alcohol markers; my acrylic vs alcohol markers comparison explains how the two differ.
My other Ohuhu acrylic marker sets
I have unboxed two more Ohuhu acrylic marker sets on my channel. I have not written my own notes on them, so this review covers the Nahuku 48 only:
- Ohuhu Acrylic Markers, 24 colors (48 pack)a grey zip case with green elastic loops; in the unboxing Short I fill in its swatch card and paint a blue sky with white clouds over a green field.
- Ohuhu Kakaako acrylic markers, 90 colorsblack-barrel markers in a black case; in the unboxing Short I paint a fan-art scene with a cloudy blue sky on paper taped to a clipboard.

Who it suits
Choose the Ohuhu Nahuku 48 if you want a brush-tip acrylic marker set where the brush nib, the coverage and the color blending all work very well, and you are happy to mix or layer for shades the 42 colors do not cover. If you want more colors in one box, look at the 60- and 72-color sets in my acrylic paint pen guide and POSCA alternatives guide.
What I liked
- The brush nib works very well.
- The coverage works very well.
- The color blending ability works very well.
What bugged me
- The number of colors is limited; I hope Ohuhu updates this set with more colors in the future.
